Attractions & Local Events
Nestled in the shadow of Mount Monadnock, and overlooking the beautiful Fitzwilliam Town Common, the Fitzwilliam Inn is in the heart of the "Currier & Ives" section of southwestern New Hampshire. Prime antiquing abounds --- shops specializing in everything from antique hardware, clocks, and books to furniture and fine art are all within walking distance of the Inn. Surrounded by forests, rivers, lakes, 4 season woods trails, and an abundance of cultural activities --- there is never enough time to "do it all."
Outdoor activities include: hiking Mt. Monadnock, Gap Mountain, Pack Monadnock, Rhododendron State Park, and a number of town trail systems including the flat Rail Trail (which can also be biked). Kayaking, canoeing, swimming ponds, lakes and rivers. Fall is a special and gorgeous time in New England and our hardwood maples and oaks offer their finest colors to our visitors coined as "leaf-peepers."
Here at the Inn we help Fitzwilliam celebrate some very special small town events that keep the heart of Fitzwilliam ticking: The Strawberry Festival (in June); The Fitzwilliam Antiques Show (over 40 years on the Common in July), The Fitzwilliam Fantasy Faire- our Renaissance festival- in October, and the lighting of the Holiday Tree on the common in December.
